Narcissus
Design is named for the Greek Myths of Narcissus.
View Our Philosophy for further information
about the history of this name, and its relevance to our business.
Narcissus Design was registered as a business
name in May 2006, and is run by Director Yasmine Howard -
whose particular skills are in Instructional Design. Associate
Angus Wallace provides Graphical Design and Usability Testing.
We work both on-site our clients' offices, and our Albert
Park home/office in Melbourne Australia.
We specialise in Instructional Design for eLearning
and eBusiness and ebusiness.
Over the two years 2006-2009,
our goal is provide contract Instructional Design work for
commercial businesses and educational organisations, such
as universities. This may include the areas of Compliance,
Occupational Health and Safety, and Finance. Our goal
for 2010 and beyond is to create new business opportunities
for eLearning in niche areas such as the Arts, Education,
Communication and Design. Our ongoing goal
is to undertake research and development, within Higher Education
and Corporate Training.
We are dedicated to:
- Ensuring our designs meet our own high expectations
of quality, despite the cost or time frameworks we must
work within.
- Applying contemporary and relevant theory
and practices from education, software engineering, graphic
design and human computer interface design, whether our
projects are for corporate, small business or Higher Education.
- Fostering clients who value design, and
educating clients on the potential pitfalls of following
poor-quality design practices.
- Keeping abreast of the latest research and
technology, through ongoing research and development.
- Ensuring that the effective navigation,
usability and educational focus for user/learner is the
focus of the project.
We don't follow trends... we try to
create them! How can we encourage 'learners'
to easily navigate the website/cd-rom, enable them to problem
solve, acquire and successfully retain knowledge? That is
our obsession... Quite simply, if it doesn't
work for the learner, then the project has probably not been
a success..."
